In case you haven’t figured it out already, we’re big fans of organic cider vinegar here at Hoosier Herbal Remedies. We’ll try to keep our gushing to a minimum in this post, but if you want to learn more about just how amazing and powerful organic cider vinegar is, check out our infographic about its nutrient density or this post about what organic cider vinegar can do for your immune system.
In this post, however, we’d like to take a look at the process by which organic cider vinegar is made. You may or may not know that our apple cider vinegar tonic is made with only the finest USDA Organic cider vinegar, made right here in the US of A! Supporting local economies is very important to us at Hoosier Herbal Remedies. But enough about us. Let’s talk about making organic cider vinegar!
It All Starts With Organic Apples…
No matter what form in which you encounter organic cider vinegar, you can be sure that at one point, it was a beautiful organic apple. The apples are crushed and squeezed, releasing the juice inside. This juice is either made into cider which will later become vinegar, or turned into vinegar right away.
Next Come The Microbes…
Once the organic apples have been turned into juice or cider, bacteria and yeast are added to jumpstart the fermentation process. If you’re thinking that this sounds a lot like how beer or hard cider is made, you’re right!
Once More With Feeling…
After the bacteria and yeast have successfully turned all of the organic apple cider’s sugars to alcohol, it’s time for the entire batch to go through a second fermentation. This time, acetic acid-forming bacteria are added to convert all of the alcohol into vinegar. Acetic acid and malic acid are responsible for organic cider vinegar’s sour taste.
Once the organic apples have completed their journey to vinegar, it’s delivered to the Hoosier Herbal Remedies facility in Kentucky where it will be added to our Vim & Vigor herbal drink. But don’t worry: we add in organic fruit juices, along with carefully selected medicinal herbs and spices so you don’t have to worry about a bitter taste!
We’ve included organic cider vinegar in our herbal tonic because we believe it adds an unparalleled health benefit, especially for your immune system. See our testimonial page to learn more about the results people have had after taking Vim & Vigor!
